== Usage ==
This template is to be used on the individual [[Indianapolis 500]] race pages. This template is appropriate for Indianapolis 500 race articles from roughly 1956 to present.

From 1950 until 1960, the Indianapolis 500 was part of the [[List of Formula One World Drivers' Champions|World Drivers' Championship]]. Consensus was reached that Indianapolis 500 races included on the WDC calendar should remain with an Indy500-specific infobox.

Due to non-applicable information in post-WWII years, it is not suggested that this infobox be used for races prior to WWII (1911–1916 and 1919–1941). This infobox includes cells for some information that is only appropriate or applicable for more recent editions of the race. Including, but not limited to the pre-race ceremonies, and television information. In addition, the Rookie of the Year Award does not apply prior to 1952.
